Dual Meet & Tournament Openings

PA Wrestling Reserves the right to accept or deny any or all tournaments.
The 2008 Donegal Holiday Tournament will be held on December 27th, 2008. The tournament is a one-day, 2 point tournament. Wrestlers will be seeded into two pools based on a point system. The winner of each pool will wrestle for 1st, 2nd in each pool will wrestle for 3rd, etc. We will wrestle up to 8 places. Awards will be given to the top 3 in each weightclass and the top two teams. The tournament is limited

Garnet Valley High School located in District 1 is looking for two teams for its Individual Holiday Wrestling Tournament. The tournament will take place on Sat Dec. 20th. 2008 It is a balanced 16 team tournament. It will be a double elimination format and include teams from dist 1, 3, 11. Downingtown West is looking for a competitive dual meet tournament on the weekends of 12/20 or 1/10 or 1/24, 2008-2009 season. It could be worth 3 or 4 competitions. Contact Darrin Cummings at dcummings@dasd.org
Penn Cambria High School out of District 6 is looking for a few teams to complete its field of 24 teams for the Sheetz Holiday Classic Tournament to be held on December 12th and 13th 2008 This is a highly competitive tournament that boasts many state placewinners each year. Athens (district - 4 AA) is
holding an eight man individual tournament on 12/19/08 & 12/20/08.
This will count as a two point event but each wrestler will get seven matches as
it is in a round robin-type format. Currently we have quality teams from

Penn Manor has 2 openings in there 21st annual 24 team Wrestling tournament held on Dec 12th and 13th 2008. We wrestle on 6 mats both
days and wrestle to 8th place. We also run a JV tournament on Sat the 13th for participating teams. The JV tournament had over 200 entrants
and is run in a separate gym next to the main gym. The top schools participating last season were Berwick, Spring Grove, Curwinsville, West
Chester, LaSalle, Montoursville, Brookville. Anyone interested in entering the tourn or requesting more information

Saint Pius X H.S. in Pottstown, PA is seeking a Head Wrestling Coach for the 2008-09 season and beyond. A new school is being built and is scheduled to open in Sept. 2010. Looking for 3 teams to add to our 16 team individual tournament held at Carlisle High School on December 12th and 13th 2008. This is double elimination, full wrestle backs for top 6. Awards to the top 3 teams. Abington HS in District 1 is looking for some teams for a 1 day dual meet tournament (3 competition points) to be held at Abington High School on December 20th, 2008. Each team will get 5 duals. So far Abington (D1 AAA), Methacton(D1 AAA), Wissahickon(D1 AAA), and Northeast Catholic(D12 AAA) are in. A couple of other teams are interested, but have not committed. Wanted PA wrestling teams for wrestling tournament in Orange County, N.Y. called the "Eastern States Wrestling Classic." Courtney L. Travis is attempting to secure Pennsylvania High Schools to participate. Currently there are no PA schools involved. This is a great chance to get some foreign competition. This tournament has 63 teams from N.Y., N.J., Ct., Ma. Vt., N.H., & Va.

JV Tournament
The Annual JV Wrestling Tournament will be held on Sunday Feb. 3, 2008. Over 100 wrestlers on teams from PA, DE & NJ public, parochial and private schools participated in last year’s tournament.
Since this is not a team tournament, schools can enter as many JV wrestlers as they wish. The entrance fee is $10.00 per wrestler. Please send a TENTATIVE roster to The La Salle Takedown Club, ATTN: John Janda, 8605 Cheltenham Ave., Wyndmoor, PA 19038. Enclose a check, made payable to La Salle Takedown Club, for $10.00/wrestler to insure your team's participation. Adjustments can be made for additional wrestlers on the day of the tournament.
The Madison Weight System will be used to determine the weight classes. Our goal is to limit the number of wrestlers in each weight class to 8. Seeding is random. Medals will be awarded to the top 4 finishers in each weight class. Depending on registration, 4 or 5 mats will be used for this double elimination tournament.
WEIGH-INS will be held Sunday morning from 6:00 to 7:20 AM.
However, a list of potential participants is required no later than Monday Jan. 28th. Please email or fax your list, including name, expected weight and grade, to prbyrnes@verizon.net or 877 282 3338. We understand this list may change by Sunday but it is needed to start the computer set-up. Wrestling will start by 8:15 AM.

Hot food, including breakfast, and other refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The Big Dog Tournament at Brockway Area High School has openings for their tournament on December 28th and 29th. On January 19, 2008 Williamson will be hosting our inaugural Jr. High Wrestling Tournament. We are looking for 8 to 12 teams and want to use a six man round robin format. If we have more than six in any weight class, we will make two groups in those weight classes. We will use 4 mats and 2 gyms to complete the tournament. The tournament fee will be $100 made payable to Williamson wrestling Team.
