Donegal High School, D3, is looking for one more team to complete its one day, 8 team round robin tournament on December 30, 2009.  Tournament will cost 2 competition points and kids will get 4-5 matches.  Teams competing Central Dauphin East, Donegal, East Pennsboro, Elizabethtown, Kutztown, Pine Grove, and Red Land.  Please contact Coach Ambs jambs@flinchbaughengineering.com

 

Lehighton High School is looking for one more team to participate in the Lehighton Indian Duals on Saturday, January 16th, 2010.  It is a six team round-robin team tournament and each team will wrestle five matches. Pennsbury is hosting its annual Falcon duels on Dec. 12, 2009.  Committed teams are Norristown, Cedar Cliff and Skyline V.A..  We are seeking two additional teams to complete the 8 team tournament. The Juniata Wrestling Club is looking for 2 teams for their Juniata Junior/Senior Early Bird Duals Tournament held at Juniata High School in Mifflintown, Pa. The date is December 12, 2009.  This is a 6 team tournament (Jr. High & Sr. High) with every team getting 5 matches. This will count as 3 competition points. Junior varsity matches will also be wrestled. Our goal is to get all the extra wrestlers at the high school and junior high level matches. We have lots of extra wrestlers, so it shouldn’t be a problem. Weigh ins will be at 8:00 a.m. Wrestling will begin at 9:00 a.m. on 5 mats. We expect to be finished by 6:00 p.m. Very nice plaques to the top team in the junior high and senior high division. The Athens Wrestling Club is once again holding their two summer duals events.

The 3rd annual Quakertown Varsity Duals and JV tournament is looking for at least three teams with the possibility of needing a fourth team. FORMAT:  
The Quakertown Duals will consist of eight teams divided into two pools of four teams. The final Championship round will bring the teams with the same record from the other pool together.  Each high school team will have four dual meets for the day.  Four mats will be used for competition.
We will be pairing JV wrestlers for a round-robin competition in our auxiliary gymnasium on three mats.  Each JV wrestler will get three to four matches (can change with number of entries) from 9 AM - 12:15 PM (approximate time).  Each varsity and/or junior varsity wrestler is limited to a maximum of five competitions for the day.

Franklin Regional will be hosting their 2009 Wrestling Duals on Dec. 12th 2009. We are looking to get either 12 or 8 teams. All teams will be guaranteed 5 matches. If we end up with 8 teams there will be 2 pools of 4 all teams wrestling each other and then cross bracketing the 2 top teams and the 2 bottom teams in each pool. If we have 12 teams we will do something similar only with 3 pools. The tournament will be worth 3 competition points. So our field for 2009 looks like this Franklin Regional, Waynesburg, Blackhawk, Jefferson Morgan, Perry Academy and Knock. The day will be a positive experience for all wrestlers. Depending on the number of teams we will run 3 or 4 mats in one gym (no switching gymnasiums) and an extra mat all day specifically for JV matches. The second annual Clearfield Bison Duals has been set for January 23, 2010 at the Clearfield Area High School.
The dual tournament will have a minimum 12 teams. The teams will be divided into two pools. Each team will wrestle four duals in their pool for placement within the pool. The final dual matches pair Pool A first place through sixth place with Pool B first place through sixth place for the final team standings.
Clearfield has a minimum two openings but could potentially have others as well.

Garden Spot High School is hosting an 8 team Dual Tournament on Saturday, January 30, 2010.  Wresting action will take place on four mats in our state-of-the-art gymnasium.  Trophies will be awarded for 1, 2, and 3rd

The Penn Manor Holiday tournament has openings for its annual 25 team wrestling tournament.  This years tournament will be held on Dec 18th, 19th 2009.  It is double elimination placing back to 8th place.  We also run a JV tournament in an adjoining gym on Sat where JV wrestlers average 4 matches.  Interested teams should contact Steve Hess at steve.hess@pennmanor.net  for more information.

 

Penn Manor JH Power Dual Tourn has 2 openings in its 8 team round robin wrestling tournament.  The tourn will be held on Tuesday Dec 29th.  4 teams from Lancaster; Solanco, Hempfield, Ephrata, PM will wrestle 4 teams from outside the area in a round robin format.  Each team is guaranteed 4 matches  JV wrestlers are paired up and wrestled in the adjacent gym.  Interested teams should contact Steve Hess at steve.hess@pennmanor.net

 

Wissahickon High School, located in Ambler (PA), will be hosting the 2009 Southeast Wrestling Classic Tournament on Dec. 11 & 12.  It will be an 18-20 team tournament with the following teams confirmed:  Exeter, Perkiomen Valley, Bensalem, North Penn, Plymouth Whitemarsh, Wilson, C.B. CR North's Elite Duals will be held as a Dual Meet Tournament on Saturday, January 16th, 2010.  It will be at Council Rock North in Newtown, PA.  6 teams will participate, and each team will wrestle the others for a total of 5 dual meets (3 competition points only).

Hilton Head Island, SC Holiday Dual Tournament 

Coaches,
Dec. 28 and 29 2009 (MON-TUES) Hilton Head High (2X defending lower state champs) will be hosting the 5th annual Seahawk Duals. In the 4 short years we have hosted this event we have had schools participate from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. We would love to have this tournament become more prestigious which means bringing in tougher competition.
The Westin Resort (4-star hotel) is offering fantastic rates. $128.00 a night which includes all taxes and resort fees. These rooms can go for as much as $300 a night. There are numerous restaurants on site. There is a lounge. There is an indoor swimming pool. Not to mention that the hotel sits right on the beautiful beaches of Hilton Head Island.

PSU-DuBois Adding Wrestling 2009-10 School Year

Head Wrestling Coach- Penn State DuBois

Penn State DuBois seeks an energetic and experienced Wrestling Coach to direct the reintroduction of wrestling on the PSU DuBois Campus. The Head Coach will direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the wrestling program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruitment of student-athletes in accordance with college policy, supervise coaching staff, game coaching, conduct practices, organize team travel, monitor student-athletes academic and social progress, equipment maintenance and purchases, budget management, fundraising, camp and clinic development and implementation, and administrative duties required to develop a competitive wrestling program. Candidates must have coaching and wrestling experience with preference given to those who have demonstrated those abilities at the College Level. Candidate must also show a strong foundation of recruiting and fundraising.
