The Mid-Penn’s Golden Tigers of Hollidaysburg upended the YAIAA’s Mustangs of South Western 37-20. Matt Wimbush with 45-yards and David Rahoi with 43-yards, led the Golden Tigers rushing attack but the real story was sophomore sensation Patrick Smith, who entered the game in the third quarter and completed 4 of 4 passes for 162-yards and 3 touchdowns, 51 and 57-yards to Jared Colmer and 12-yards to Ryan Conway. David Rahoi threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Jake Vite to open the scoring, Mike Heist returned an interception 18-yards for a touchdown and Garrett Clawson kicked a 40-yard field goal for the Golden Tigers. Clawson also kicked 4 extra points, punted 6 times for 202-yards and kicked off 7 times for 371-yards, including 4 touchbacks.
The Mustangs also thrilled the crowd with exciting plays. Cody Smith rushed for a net of 69-yards but scored a touchdown on an electrifying 80-yard jaunt. J. C. Laughlin passed for 52-yards, including a 14-yard touchdown to Jeremy Renoll, who caught 2 passes for 27-yards. And junior kicking sensation Drew Snyder kicked a school record 47-yard field goal and a 37-yard field goal. He is already tied for the school career field goal kicking record with 10. He also kicked 2 extra points, punted 8 times for 375-yards and a 46.9-yard average and kicked off 4 times for 201-yards, including a touchback.
The YAIAA’s Panthers of Central York defeated the Mid-Penn’s Polar Bears of Northern York 22-7. Matt Nugent rushed for 71-yards, including a 3-yard touchdown, and Derrick Bender rushed for 68-yards for the Panthers. Eric Schwartz rushed for 22-yards and a touchdown, passed for 177-yards, including a 52-yard touchdown strike to Anjelo Kellum (who led the Panthers with 2 receptions for 89-yards) and kicked a 41-yard field goal. Colby Betz led the Polar Bears slim rushing attack with 29-yards and passed for 84-yards, including a 29-yard touchdown to his brother Corey.
The Lancaster-Lebanon League’s Bulldogs of Wilson routed the YAIAA’s Wildcats of Dallastown 40-7. Eric Hetrich passed for 22-yards and 4 touchdowns; 15-yards to Timmy Gallagher, 14-yards to Andrew Borkey, 12-yards to Dillon Stopper and 71-yards to Josh Smith, for the Bulldogs. Derrick Funk returned a kickoff 85-yards and Jake Stopper (who rushed for 115-yards) scored on a 7-yard run for the Bulldogs. Zach Shue passed for 94-yards, including a 9-yard touchdown to Keegan McAuliffe for their only score, for the Wildcats. The Wildcats were held to a net of 22-yards rushing, led by Kyle O’Donnell who garnered 29-yards.
The Mid-Penn’s Warriors of Gettysburg outlasted the YAIAA’s Colonials of New Oxford 24-21 with a 32-yard field goal by sophomore Evan Lewis accounting for the difference. Lewis completed 5 passes for 158-yards, including touchdowns of 68-yards to Terrill Barnes, 46-yards to D. J. Stahl and 5-yards to Sean Manahan. Sophomore sensation Lewis had 15 passes for 195-yards last week and has 20 completions for 353-yards for the season. Adam Smith rushed for 108-yards, including a 1-yard touchdown, and Alex Smith passed for 98-yards, including an 8-yard touchdown to Kody Kibler (who also rushed for 43-yards and a 10-yard touchdown) for the Colonials.
The Lancaster-Lebanon League’s Black Knights of Hempfield romped over the YAIAA’s Lions of Red Lion 45-6. Patrick Blair led the Black Knights with 109-yards rushing, including touchdowns of 1 and 55 and 15-yards. Charlie Parker added 82-yards rushing, including touchdowns of 1 and 18-yards, Mike Callahan passed for 162-yards, including a 14-yard touchdown to Alex Puskar, and Andrew Kontra kicked a 30-yard field goal for the Black Knights. Taylor Green passed for 165-yards, including a nifty 76-yard touchdown to Andrew Downs, who caught 5 passes for 147-yards, for the Lions.
The Berks Inter-County League’s Exeter Township Eagles defeated the YAIAA’s Rockets of Spring Grove 34-14. Quarterback Steve Grohman scored touchdowns on 1 and 9-yard runs and passed for 73-yards, including a 62-yard touchdown to Josh Waltrich, for the Eagles. Robbie Ford led the Eagles rushers with 88-yards, Matt Hartwell rushed for 73-yards, including a 16-yard touchdown, and Matt Wiley scored on a 7-yard run. Senior sensation Matt Marshall was able to pass for 205-yards, including touchdowns of 35 and 6-yards to Mike Langer, for the Rockets. Marshall also led the Rockets meager 31-yard rushing attack with 21-yards.
The YAIAA’s Bearcats of William Penn of York outlasted the Lancaster-Lebanon League’s Red Tornadoes of J. P. McCaskey 45-41 in a slugfest. Shavell Jones rushed for 297-yards (would have been 302-yards but he took a knee and a 5-yard loss to run out the clock), including touchdowns of 99, 2 and 16-yards, and played quarterback in the fourth quarter when Tison Dickson was injured, for the Bearcats. Dickson rushed for 37-yards and passed for 211-yards, including touchdowns of 70 and 16-yards to Lamar Hughes (who caught 4 passes for 114-yards) and 32-yards to Byron Keys, and Hanibal Flores returned an interception 90-yards for a touchdown for the Bearcats. Lance Diamond passed for 278-yards, including 58 and 56-yards to Kevin Aguilera, for the Red Tornadoes. Aguilera caught 4 passes for 160-yards and scored a touchdown on a 54-yard run. Anthony Westbrook returned an interception 64-yards for a touchdown, Luiz Lopez scored on a 6-yard run and Jermaine Smith scored on a 1-yard run for the Red Tornadoes.
The Lancaster-Lebanon League’s Barons of Manheim Central shut out the YAIAA’s Eagles of Dover 65-0. Nate Mast rushed for 127-yards, including touchdowns of 24 and 26-yards, and Brandon Miller passed for 164-yards, including touchdowns of 8-yards to Jeff Ochoa and 5 and 39-yards to Graham Zug (who caught 8 passes for 100-yards), for the Barons. Ochoa rushed for 68-yards and scored on a 5-yard run, Scott Garber rushed for 59-yards and scored on an 11-yard run, Miller rushed for 47-yards and scored on a 25-yard run, Ben Fitzkee rushed for 23-yards and scored on a 20-yard run, and Andy Wilson rushed for 23-yards and scored on a 5-yard run. The Barons amassed 376-yards rushing and 164-yards passing for the game. Mike Stough rushed for 23-yards for the Eagles, who were held to a net of 5-yards rushing and no yards passing for the game.
The Mid-Penn’s Lions of Camp Hill romped over the YAIAA’s Golden Knights of Eastern York 41-14. Mike Davis led the Lions with 86-yards rushing, including touchdowns of 2, 2, 48 and 2-yards, and Justin Losh added 54-yards rushing, including an 18-yard touchdown. Quarterback Michael Withington rushed for 53-yards and passed for113-yards, including a 15-yard touchdown to Jim Curley (who caught 3 passes for 68-yards) for the Lions. Josh Slate passed for 127-yards, including a 12-yard touchdown to Chad Richardson, and Steve Shaw caught 4 passes for 47-yards and scored a touchdown on a 2-yard run for the Golden Knights.
The YAIAA’s Division III Spartans of York County Tech bested the Division II Rams of Kennard-Dale 44-34 in a free for all. Marc Bonner rushed for 235-yards on 11 carries, including 5 touchdowns on runs of 32, 62, 40, 16 and 35-yards, and Fullback Justin Brown rushed for 80-yards, including a 44-yard touchdown, for the Spartans. Van Vryaldenhoven kicked a 30-yard field goal for the Spartans. Brandon Marousek rushed for 280-yards, including touchdowns of 1 and 35-yards, and Justin Boland completed 10 passes for234-yards, including an 11-yard touchdown to Justin Lane (who caught 6 passes for 125-yards) and touchdown passes of 51 and 4-yards to Mike Green, for the Rams.
The YAIAA’s Division II Warriors of Susquehannock beat the Division III Eagles of Bermudian Springs 31-14. Chaz Powell led the Warriors with 139-yards rushing, including a 4-yard touchdown, and Andy McCoy passed for 175-yards, including a 37-yard touchdown to Joe Mummert (who caught 3 passes for 61-yards and rushed for 47-yards) and 17 and 28-yard touchdowns to Ian Childers (who caught 3 passes for 55-yards). Caleb Walls added a 29-yard field goal for the Warriors. Ryan Spahr led the Eagles with 94-yards rushing and Davey Zaminski passed for 121-yards, including a 57-yard touchdown to Jeff Frantz. Kelby Miller scored the other Eagles touchdown on a 1-yard run.
The Division III Thunderbolts of Littlestown edged the YAIAA’s Division II Bulldogs of West York 26-16. Nate Rolon rushed for 189-yards including an 80-yard touchdown on his first carry and another score on a 39-yard run, Luke Reichart rushed for 57-yards, including touchdowns of 1 and 5-yards, and Zach Beaver completed 4 passes for 51-yards for the Thunderbolts. Dakota Kessler rushed for 51-yards, including a 50-yard touchdown, and Rob Estep passed for 220-yards, including a 27-yard touchdown to Josh Koht (who caught 4 passes for 105-yards), for the Bulldogs.
The Division III Canners of Biglerville eked out a 7-0 victory over the YAIAA’s Division II Irish of York Catholic. Kyle Grubbs returned a fumble recovery 6-yards for the only score of the game. Ryan Wagaman led the Canners rushing attack with 37-yards, followed by Larry Jordan with 13, Ashton Taughinbaugh with 12 and Zach Dittmar with 7-yards, and Ryan Wagaman completed 2 passes for 21-yards for the Canners. Andrew Bernhard led the Irish rushing attack with 76-yards, followed by Nick Falci with 72, Donnie Wilson with 38 and Christopher Reagan with 23-yards and Scott Lehmann with minus yardage. Lehmann also completed 3 passes for 50-yards.
The YAIAA’s Division II Trojans of York Suburban defeated the Division III Knighthawks of Hanover 21-7. Dustin Gatewood led the Trojans rushing attack with 131-yards, including touchdowns of 4 and 3-yards, and Marc Bower passed for 86-yards, including a 12-yard touchdown to Derrick Bass (who caught 3 passes for 64-yards). Jay Shirer passed for 122-yards and Matt Trish led the rushing attack with 59-yards for the Knighthawks. Nic Shirey scored the only touchdown for the Knighthawks on a 1-yard run to open the scoring in the game.
The Mid-Penn’s Shamrocks of Trinity blasted the YAIAA’s Squires of Delone Catholic 41-7. Mike Connolly rushed for 95-yards, including touchdowns of 1 and 5-yards, and caught a 55-yard touchdown strike from Jamal Smith for the Shamrocks. Smith passed for 90-yards and rushed for 60-yards, including a 2-yard touchdown. Backup quarterback Matt Hallahan threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jared Dupes and scored on a 4-yard run for the Shamrocks. Seth Grimm’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Hagaman accounted for the Squires only score. Joe Sorice led the Squires with 42-yards rushing and Jake Hockensmith contributed 34 more yards.
The Mid-Penn’s Rockets of James Buchanan beat the YAIAA’s Knights of Fairfield 42-8. Tyler Morris rushed for 119-yards, including a 1-yard touchdown, Toby Rhodes rushed for 76-yards, including a 62-yard touchdown, Marcus Riley rushed for 75-yards, including a 42-yard touchdown, Rusty Hughes rushed for 60-yards, including touchdowns of 9 and 3-yards, and Justin Lee rushed for 30-yards, including a 5-yard touchdown, for the Rockets. Corey Staples led the Knights rushing attack with 32-yards and scored on a 2-point conversion run. Robby Potts passed for 104-yards, including a 45-yard touchdown strike to Dan Goetz (who caught 4 passes for 60-yards), for the Knights.
