Uniontown Wins with Last Quarter FG, 20-17

It was a tight game the whole way: tied at halftime,  10-10, and then tied again after 3 periods, 17 all.

Sol 'Woody' Wolfe gave his boys from Billtown a rousing halftime talk, but clutch running from tailback Ray Gillian saw the Millionaires fall behind by seven early in the 3rd. Gutty QB George Swartz found a wide-open Seiwell for 73 yards to knot the score going into the final stanza. It was the second long-range TD for the pair. Seiwell played most of the game as s sub for Carl Ray, who was banged up early in the game.

Both teams saw the defenses stiffen in the 4th. Jim Zimcosky from Uniontown (who had four sacks)  pulled Swartz down for an 8-yard loss in a crucial 3rd down late in the last quarter.
Uniontown then put together a drive down to the Williamsport 9-yard-line. It was 4th and a long two when Coach Leon Kaltenbach decided to go for the lead with a 19-yard FG attempt. Sure-and-steady Minor (who had booted a 48-yarder in the 1st) banged it through the uprights with just 2:43 to go in the game.
