Coal Township Edges North Hills, 24-21
Coal Township roared out to a 17-0 first quarter lead then had to hold off
the never-say-die Indians of Jack McCurry.
For the Demons, Robert Narke rushed for 138 yards to keep the clock running. He
bulled in from the two just moments into the game. Vince Brightbill added the
PAT. He also booted a 40-Yd Fg to extend the Demon lead to 10-0. Vince Packoski
dashed in from 22-yards out to extend the Coal Township lead to 17-0, and it
looked like a rout.
Cool-and-calm Greg Morris served the Indians well as he booted two FGs and passed for 258 yards. He hit Chris Cisar twice for scores, the second a 68-yard bomb late in the 4th to bring the North Hills team with 3 (24-21), but it was too little too late. The clinching score for Coal Township was a 52-yard punt return by Lamar Switzer. The tough back shook off several tackles and ripped into the endzone leaving a trail of disappointed tacklers behind.
The game was played at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh with Hines Ward and Dan Kreider on hand to witness the game.
