Pennsylvania Football News
All-Time Challenge #1
This is the first in a
yearly occurrence which PFN will choose (at random and mostly from the Hal
Wilson "Great Pennsylvania Teams of the Past" articles) SIXTEEN (16) teams to
compete in a computer simulation of what 'may' have happened if all of these
outstanding teams were to meet in their prime.
We have arbitrarily established the modern day formations as the norm, and
subsequently, have identified athletes to serve as kickers, punters, or even
quarterbacks (as in the old single wing) to serve their teams.
Hence, passing will have a greater impact in this medium than it would have had
in the earlier eras. Modifications have been made for the older teams and (where
possible) actual stats used to more closely reflect the players' high school
performances. Obviously, passing stats will be enhanced. We hope you enjoy
this little trip into football fantasyland.
The PFN staff will 'play' the games then report on the results (including summaries and stats) of each game, each round weekly. This is for entertainment purposes and to also honor some of the great teams and athletes from our proud Pennsylvania high school football tradition. Your comments are welcomed, as are nominations for future teams... PROVIDED you furnish us with full rosters, results of each game, and stats (if possible.)
Send your views or ideas to tom@pafootballnews.com Note: Tom Elling selected the teams involved at random. It in no way takes away from teams NOT selected.
Click on the team names below for Hal Wilson's detailed article on that team. Games began October 29th.
