Geibel Catholic vs. West Greene
 by Bill Krober

Two years ago the Geibel Catholic  Gators would travel to West Greene to take on the Pioneers. The game would end in the final 19 seconds on a West Greene kickoff return for a score and a 36 to 31 win. This game would start with the same markings but would quickly turn in to a one sided romp for the home standing Pioneers.  The  Gators would start this one at their own 30 yard line after receiving the opening kickoff and would burn 5 minutes and 21 seconds off of the clock before being forced to punt to the Pioneers. West Greene would waste no time on their opening drive and would quickly move down field scoring on a Patrick Morris 5 yard touchdown run. Kicker Keith Watson would add the extra point. On their very next drive Geibel would show that they too could score and indeed they would on what would be the longest scoring play of the game. Quarterback Michael Betler would find a wide open Andrew Jackson on a 70 yard touchdown pass for the major. The extra point would tie this one at 7. What looked to be the start of another wild game would end here as the Pioneers would score and score often from this point on. On their next possession West Greene's Patrick Morris would pick up his second score of the night on a 55 yard touchdown run along with the Watson point after. In the Second Quarter West Greene would continue to increase their lead adding 3 more majors. The first would come on a Chris Horr 2 yard run. Patrick Morris would next score his third of the night on a 39 yard run. Morris would also show his skills as a receiver as he would set the Pioneers up for their third score of the quarter after coming up big on an 83 yard reception to the Geibel 5. Aaron Gifford would cap off the drive on a 5 yard touchdown run. Keith Watson would add all 3 point after attempts to give the Pioneers the 35 to 7 halftime lead. The Second half would see West Greene play most of their second string and would also see them continue to put more points on the board. West Greene would add two more in the third to not only secure the win but to also put the mercy rule into effect. Sky Crabe would score on a 6 yard run and Freshman Frank Vorhes would add the second scoring from 3 yards out. Watson would be good on 1 of the 2 extra points. In the fourth West Greene would add one more to make the Final read West Greene 5 Geibel 7. My pick for player of the game would be Patrick Morris. Patrick would play just the first half and would end up with 14 rushes for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns. Patrick would also record one catch for 83 yards giving him a total of 297 yards in 24 minutes.

My Son Joshua is a big fan of the West Greene Pioneers. Every year we travel their one time to see them play. The School is located just Southwest of Waynesburg. As part of the trip Joshua likes to pick up Souvenirs to mark the occasion and as always the wonderful people who work the games or are just fans do their best  to find him various things. With that in mind I would like to thank Wendy Riggs for helping him to get the new 2006 Shirt and the West Greene wrist bracelets. Also thanks to the Cheerleader whose name I do not know for the mini Football. Also a thank you to the Gentleman who I believe was the Father of former players Rodney and AJ Wilson. Mr. Wilson presented Joshua with a regulation Football courtesy of the Quarterback Club. Thanks again to all. Kinds deeds do not go unnoticed.

Clearfield vs. Brookville

 by Bill Krober

Do you like games full of action? How about lots of Scoring or the kind of nail biting game that goes down to the final play? If so, Brookville would have been the place where you wanted to be this past Friday Night. Class AA Brookville would play host to Class AAA Clearfield on a beautiful night complete with a bright orange Harvest Moon to delight the nice crowd that would be on hand. The Raiders of Brookville would start the night after receiving the opening kick on their own 20 yard line. The first drive would go nowhere and they would end up punting to Clearfield who would take over on their own 30 yard line. The Bisons would waste no time on their opening drive and would quickly move the ball down field and would score on a Isiah Morgan 24 yard Touchdown run. Kicker Kyle Kline would add the extra point. Brookville would start their next drive on their own 29 yard line and would send a message to the Bison's that they meant business. The drive would see Raider QB Shane Heschke connect with WR Tyler Ross on a 9 yard Touchdown throw. Kicker Ian Petardi would add the extra point to tie the game at 7. Clearfield would return the next kickoff only to have it fumbled and recovered by Brookville's Hank Truman on their own 34 yard line. The Raiders would quickly capitalize on the mistake and would score after WR Rocky Peace would toss a back pass to QB Shane Heschke who would in turn connect on a 10 yard Touchdown pass to a wide open WR Tyler Ross for the score. Ian Petardi would add the extra point putting Brookville up by 7. The Second Quarter would see the action continue. Clearfield would tie the game on Isiah Morgan's second score of the game this time on a 5 yard run. Kline would add the point after. The Raiders would take their next turn scoring on a Heschke 12 yard Quarterback keeper. The point after would be blocked.  Back to the Bison's as they would score two more times before the half. Isiah Morgan would score his third on a 6 yard run. Kyle Kline would add the extra point as well as a 32 yard field goal to end the first half. Both teams would head to the locker room with Clearfield leading by a score of 24 to 20. The third quarter would see more defense than the first two but would also see the Raiders regain there lead. TB Joe Galbraith would break lose on a 69 yard touchdown run and Shane would add on the two point conversion to give the Raiders a 28 to 24 lead heading in to the final quarter. In the 4th Brookville would add 7 more on another Heschke touchdown pass to Tyler Ross along with the Petardi point after to increase their lead by 9. This would however be Bison Night as Clearfield would finish strong. The Bison's would score on a 60 yard Touchdown catch to WR Drew Hipps and Isiah Morgans 4th score this one being from 4 yards out. The final would read Clearfield 39 Brookville 35.
