INDIANS WIN "ROAD" GAME OVER BLUE DEMONS, SET UP TITLE FIGHT WITH JAGUARS
Paul Sarpen 10.28.05

Tonight, the Unionville Indians had three missions as they "visited" Kennett High School's Blue Demons, @ Unionville High School.  Mission number one- Beat Kennett, Mission number two- advance their quest for a Southern Chester County League Championship, and Mission number three- get in a better position for a District One AAA playoff berth.  Consider all three missions accomplished.  Unionville scored 4 touchdowns in a span of six minutes, in 2 quarters, to down the Blue Demons 27-0.

The Indians set up their four scores in all facets of the game- offense, defense, and special teams.  The score could have been much worse than 27-0- due to an 85 yard (8:55 minutes in length) drive ending in a lost fumble @ the Kennett 10 yard line.  The offense scores were set up by a long drive, a big run, a blocked punt, and an interception return for a touchdown.  Not to mention a first year program with little depth, wore down in a bad way.

Kennett started off the game well, slowing down the pace of the game in the first quarter.  They moved the ball well, got numerous first downs, and the defense held sturdy for the first half.  However, their drives ended with sacks, or just flat out stalled.  Nobody scored until Eric DiProspero hit paydirt from a yard out with 3.4 seconds left in the half.

The floodgates opened in the second half, and proceeded to drown Kennett's hopes for victory tonight.  Unionville's lead swelled to 13-0 on a Matt Carroll 1 yard run.  Kennett put together a few first downs, the Ian Potts picked Justin Clark off, and rumbled 37 yards to the house.  The extra point was botched again, but the lead expanded to 19-0.  Unionville's staunch and stingy defense forced a Demon punt.  Three plays later, Unionville closed out the scoring on a second Eric DiProspero touchdown run.
