DEMONS LOSE HOMECOMING HEARTBREAKER TO HORNETS 19-16

The Blue Demons of Kennett High School lost a heartbreaker on their first ever homecoming game to Oxford, on a Ryan McManus field goal 19-16 with 13 seconds left in the game.  The Blue Demons dug themselves into an early 9-0 hole in the first 3:30 in the game, on a 51 yard punt return by Matt Miller; and a safety when their long snapper snapped one over their punter's head for a 9-0 lead.  The Hornet lead swelled to 16-0 in the second quarter on a Mike Price 27 yard touchdown catch.
 
Kennett's second half comeback began immediately with a 35 yard interception return by Drew Lewbi.  A 2 point conversion pass to Corey Medina cut the lead in half to 16-8.  Kennett tied the game after a long drive, capped by a Justin Clark touchdown run.  Drew Lewbi tied the game on a conversion run, with 5 minutes left. 
 
However, it was not meant to be for Kennett this night.  Oxford drove the length of the field, and converted a numerous big plays.  Oxford drove down to the Kennett 5 yard line with 13 seconds left, and McManus' kick was good.
 
Kennett falls to 1-3 (0-1 SCCL) and Oxford ups to 3-0 (1-0 SCCL).

NOTES- Kennett's first homecoming game, first Southern Chester County League game, and first defensive touchdown.  Both teams had numerous QB/C extchange issues.
