Scranton Prep (2-0) knocked off Lackawanna Trail
(1-1) 19-13 behind the steady play of QB Steve Malinchak. Malinchak rushed
for 2 TD's (54 and 4 yard runs) while also managing Prep's offense. Matt
Rader added 80 yards and 1 TD rushing for the Cavaliers.
Pat Knable's defensive efforts (1 INT and a TD saving tackle helped preserve
the Cavalier victory)
Prep leads the all-time series with Trail 3-1.
Josh Dixon (52 yard TD) and Stoney Van Horn (36 yard TD) both caught TD
passes from Colin Dwyer (200 yards passing).
Susquehanna (1-1) snapped a 34 game losing streak with a
7-6 victory over rival Montrose (0-2). Anthony Donunda led
the Sabers with 104 yards and 1 TD rushing. Donrunda scored on a 1 yard
run. Armonso Vavenzio kicked the game winning PAT.
Montrose's score came on a Taylor Smith 19 yard run.
North Pocono (2-0) eased by Riverside
(0-2) 42-18 thanks to a 284 yard, 3 TD rushing performance of Claude
O'Connor. O'Connor scored on runs of 1, 65 and 47 yards.
Joe Richards added 2 TD runs to help the Trojan cause. Richards' runs were
1 and 55 yards.
Kyle Cunningham scored the final NP TD on a 12 yard run.
Riverside was led by Joe Strok's 101 yard, 2 TD (2 and 10 yards) rushing
effort. Scott Gavin added a final TD run (1 yd) for Riverside.
Riverside leads the all-time series 19-15.
West Scranton (2-0) rolled over Dunmore
(0-2) 49-20. Tom Ogonowski rushed for 190 yards and 3 TD's (9, 10 and 5
yards) for West. Matt McGloin threw for 2 TD's and 116 yards for the
winners. Hubie Graham and C.J. Passeri caught McGloin's TD passes.
Other West Scores: Anthony Monacelli (2 yard run) and Roy Cole (47 yard run)
Dunmore scores: Craig Zielinski (57 yard pass from Miller Holmes), Pat Hart
(25 yard pass from Holmes) and Brian Zayac (88 yard KO Return).
West leads the all-time series 29-27-3.
Valley View (2-0) improved their all-time series lead on
Mid-Valley (1-1) to 23-1 with a 28-21 win. Kyle Passeri
led Valley View with 287 yards and 4 TD's rushing. Passeri scoring runs
went for 29, 59, 6 and 1 yards each.
Mid-Valley was led by Ryan Rempe (167 yards and 3 TD's passing). Rempe's TD
passes went to Ryan Rebar (20 yards), Justin Siekierka (34 yards) and Kyle
Cuff (33 yards).
Valley View's Head Coach Frank Pazzaglia is now 308-97-8 in his career.
Bishop O'Hara (2-0) defeated Bishop O'Reilly 46-7. O'Hara
leads the all-time series 8-4.
O'Hara was led by Sean Madden (86 yards and 2 TD's rushing). Other Bruin
scores: Jon Petrilak (fumble recovered in end zone & a 68 yard pass from
Josh Watters), Mike Masko (4 yard TD run), Alex Williams (34 yard pass from
Jeff Addley), Sean McGowan (1 yard run) and Greg Stewart (5 yard run).
O'Hara limited O'Reilly to 13 yards of offense.
The win marks the 8th 2-0 start in O'Hara history (since 1976).
Delaware Valley (2-0) used a 29 point 3rd quarter to erase
a 14-6 halftime deficit to knock of E. Stroudsburg South 35-14. DV was led
by Frankie Colletta's 193 yard, 3 TD rushing performance. Colletta scored
on runs of 2, 50 and 51 yards.
Other DV scores: Richie Hearon (16 yard pass from Josh Navitsky), Jarrett
Sharp (7 yard pass from Hearon).
Old Forge (1-1) rebounded from an opening night loss with a
21-7 win over Bishop Hoban. Old Forge TD's were scored by Michael Finnerty
(11 yard pass from Mike Doran), Joey Angeli (6 yard run) and Doran (1 yard
run).
Kyle Flemings scored Hoban's only TD on a 22 yard pass from Joseph Bitzer.
Wallenpaupack (1-1) shutout Western Wayne
(0-2) 33-0. J.J. Borges led 'Paupack with a 135 yards and 3 TD's rushing.
Borges scored on runs of 10, 2 and 5 yards.
Other 'Paupack scores: Phil Burtine (30 yard pass from Richard Palazzi) and
Zach Hopkins (5 yard run).
Palazzi threw for 116 yards in the win.
Honesdale (2-0) squeaked by Carbondale
(1-1). Ben Rosa led the winners with 124 yards and 2 TD's rushing. Jordan
Thol added 90 yards and 1 TD rushing for the Hornets.
Carbondale scores: 2 TD throws from Frankie Brenzel to Zach Lasavage and
Marcus Arthur,
Steve Moro had a TD run.
Andrew Torch led Carbondale with 102 yards rushing.
Abington Heights (2-0) defeated Wyoming Valley West 21-15.
The Comets were led by Jeremy Jayne's 133 yards, 2 TD's passing. Jayne's
TD's went to Mike Byrne (14 yards) and Jon Cadman (50 yards). Jayne also
added a 1 yard TD run.
Devin Hewlett rushed for 127 yards for Abington.
Scranton (2-0) used a last minute 9 yard TD pass from A.J.
McKenna to Pete Dunford to knock off Pittston Area 33-27.
McKenna threw for 135 yards.
Other Scranton scores: Kawon Shell (7 and 2 yard runs), Corey Suhow (10 and
35 yard runs).
Jack Stankoski led Pittston with 4 TD passes.
Lakeland (1-1) erased a 17-14 halftime disadvantage with 28
unanswered 2nd half points (21 in the 4th) to defeat Central Mountain 42-17.
Lakeland scores: Zac Allen (TD catch from Anthony Besten), Ryan Pezanowski
(8 and 10 yard runs), Craig Chopko (7 and 46 yard runs) and Louis Gonsauls
(1 yard run).
Pezanowski rushed for 112 yards while Chopko added 128 yards rushing for the
Chiefs.
