DESPITE ERRORS, BLUE DEMONS DRIVE OVER RUSTIN
ZIMMERMAN STADIUM
Tonight, despite three lost fumbles, the Kennett Blue Demons defeated the new
Rustin High School, 27-14. The score could have been much worse, had Kennett
not lost 2 first half fumbles deep in Golden Knight territory.
Justin Clark threw for 332 yards and two long touchdowns, and scored one on a
5 yard run.
Kennett jumped out to a 13-0 halftime edge, on a Justin Clark 5 yard touchdown
run, and a 45 yard pass play from Clark to Ben Petrack. The score could have
been 27-0 at half, had Kennett not lost 2 fumbles deep in Rustin territory.
Kennett's lead swelled to 20-0 on a Mike Cangi 1 yard run.
However, Rustin made a game of it with a Steve Hess 12 yard touchdown run, and
a Taylor Towe 1 yard run. Those 2 Knight touchdowns surrounded a second Clark
to Petrack strike.
There was the weird in this game as well. Two weird occurances to be
completely honest. First one was after Jason Ecklund intercepted a Taylor
Towe pass, and lost a fumble during the return. The second oddity- Rustin
running back Steve Hess was on his way to a 59 yard touchdown run, but a
Kennett linebacker caught him and the ball was fumbled out of the endzone.
