TIGERS DEFEAT FORT LE BOEUF 34 - 8 !!

The Fairview offense spread the wealth Friday night in defeating the Bison 34 - 8 at Waterford.  Jack M Cann led the way with 30 carries for 163 yards and a TD, Gary Corbin scored on two QB keepers and Tyler Sargent added a rushing TD and a dazzling punt return to spark the Tigers to their 4th win of the season.

Fairview scored on their first possession with Mc Cann carrying on all five plays in the 43 yard scoring drive.  Mc Cann's last run and Zane Meeder's extra point gave Fairview a 7 - 0 lead with eight minutes left in the first quarter.  On their first possession of the second quarter, Gary Corbin engineered a 55 yard scoring drive and capped it off going in from a yard out to make it 14 - 0.  Moments later, Casey Patton pounced on a Bison fumble at the Le Boeuf 17 yard line.  Seven plays later, Corbin again scored, this time from 3 yards out to make 21 - 0  Fairview at the half.  

On their first possession of the third quarter, the Tigers marched methodically down the field going 77 yards in 11 plays.  Tyler Sargent scored from a yard out for his first rushing TD of the season.  Sargent closed out the Fairview scoring by returning a Bison punt 48 yards for a TD.  Sargent's run was spectacular, as he broke four tackles, then darted outside to find paydirt.
The Bison avoided the shutout when Blake Hockett went in from 2 yards out with just under six minutes remaining in the game.  The drive covered 68 yards, with Hockett doing most of the damage.  Hockett, who finished with 25 carries for 109 yards, added the 2 point conversion run to finish the scoring for the evening.

Pat Michael again led the defense with 11 tackles and a sack.  Older brother Matt had seven tackles and a sack, with Justin Haney recording his first sack of the season.  Casey Patton and Tyler Sargent had fumble recoveries to aid the Tiger defensive cause. Fairview will entertain Grove City next week in a region crossover game at Keck field.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
