TIGERS CELEBRATE HOMECOMING WITH 35 - 13 WIN !!!


The fairview offense is alive and well once again. Jack McCann rushed
for 218 yards and Jake Lightner caught 2 TD passes from Gary Corbin to
lead the Tigers to a 35 - 13 Region 4 win versus Harbor Creek in front
of a raucus Homecoming Crowd of 3,000 at Keck Field.  The Tiger defense
was equally impressive, recording 3 sacks, a fumble and limiting the
vaunted Huskie ground game to 55 yards on 34 attempts while forcing 8
punts.

Fairview got on the board first on their second possession of the game
when Jack McCann scampered 73 yards for a TD six minutes into the game.
On their first possession of the second half, McCann again got lose,
this time from 30 yards out to make it 14 - 0 with nine minutes left in
the half.  Harbor Creek, which entered the game undefeated, struck back
engineering their only real drive of the game going 80 yards in 12 plays
with Josh Mc Anulty throwing a 14 yard TD pass to Ken Burnett. However,
the Tigers regained momentum just before the end of the half when Gary
Corbin found a wide open Jake Lightner
for a 39 yard strike to make it 21 - 6 at the half.

After senior Emily Gorman was crowned 2006 Homecoming Queen at halftime,
the Tigers went back to work.  When pat Michael recovered a  Huskie
fumble ontheir first offensive play of the half, Corbin again found Jake
Lightner, this time from 52 yards out to make it 28 - 6 midway through
the third quarter.  Fairview closed out the scoring when Zane Meeder
picked up a bobbled snap on his 37 yard field goal attempt abd raced 20
yards for a TD.  Meeder's extra point closed out the Tiger scoring and
signaled the end of the night for most of the Tiger starters.  Harbor
Creek closed out the scoring with Ken Burnett threw a 24 yard TD pass to
Kris Kress with just under 4 minutes left in the game. 

Pat Michael was a force again on defense recording 14 tackles, including
5 solos.  Gary Corbin chipped in with 10 tackles as the TIGERS improved
to 3 - 1, 1 - 1 in Region 4.  The Tigers will travel to Waterford Friday
for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with Region 4 rival Fort LeBoeuf.
