ERIC AMENDOLA REPORT

Week1:

TIGERS OPEN WITH WIN AT SCHENLEY !!

When Fairview coach Jerry Lightner met with his football team on the first day of camp this August, he promised his players they would be better defensively than last year.  Friday night in Pittsburgh, the Tigers took a first step in that direction, defeating AAAA Schenley 14 - 2.   The Tigers were stiffling defensively, holding the explosive Spartans to 207 total yards.  Offensively, the Tigers displayed their usual punishing ground game, dominating the time of possession in the second half despite failing to put a lot of points on the board.  Jack Mc Cann had 131 yards on 28 carries to lead the offense, Tyler Sargent had 10 tackles and Matt Sundberg made a key interception to thwart a Schenley drive and preserve the victory.  The Tigers will renew acquaintances this week with Northwestern, an old ECL foe they have not met since realignment took place in District ten three years ago. Game time at Albion will be 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
