Week 3
The Fairview Tigers met little resistance Friday night in rolling to 63 - 0 win over Conneaut Valley at Keck field. Ty Perry had just 9 carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns in playing less than 8 minutes.  Kevin Stephenson had his second interception in two weeks, this one a 54 yard return for a touchdown.  The Tiger defense took advantage of three fumble recoveries, a blocked punt and five sacks in addition to Stephenson's INT to post their consecutive win.  The Tigers should be challenged this week as they take on the 2 - 1 Union City Bears, who lost 21 - 0 against Iroquois, but were scoreless at halftime.   

Week 4

Fairview rolled to their 4th win in a row this season 35 - 8 over Union City last Friday night.  The Tigers used big plays to offset a Unon City defense designed to stop All regio performer Ty Perry.  Zane Meeder returned the opening kickoff 86 yards to get the Tigers on the board, then Kevin Stephenson connected with senior tight end Chris Delavern three times before the half ended to increasee the Tiger lead to 35 - 0 at halftime.  Union City scored with less than a minute to go in the game.  Fairview will play at home this Friday in a big region 2 showdown against Eisenhower.  The game marks the Tigers homecoming and should be a real test for the undefeated Tigers.

Week 5

The Fairview Tigers used four big plays to hold of a stubborn Eisenhower team on Homecoming night, winning by a 34 - 21 score. Ty Perry led the Tigers with 152 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries, but it was the big play capability of the Tigers that secured their fifth win of the season. Pat Michael had 14 tackles and an interception leading to the first Tiger score, then recovered an Eisenhower fumble in the end zone to end a long Eisenhower drive. Justin Haney returned a kickoff 56 yards after the Knights had cut the led to 14 - 7 early in the third quarter.  That play led to a 3rd Tiger score, and the Tigers sealed the win when Chris Delavern blocked an Eisenhower punt on the ensuing drive giving the Tigers the ball inside the Knight's ten yard line. Alex Wagner also had 10 tackles for the Tigers, who play next week at Saegertown.

Week 6

TIGERS WIN 6TH STRAIGHT, 49 - 20 !!!!!!?The Fairview Tigers scored 21 4th quarter points to break open a close game and secure their 6th straight win Friday night at Saegertown, setting up a Region 2 showdown with Iroquois this Friday at Fairview.? Ty Perry rushed for 265 yards on 28 carries and had five touchdowns to lead the Tiger offense.  Alex Wagner had 15 tackles and Kevin Stephenson had 2 interceptions to lead the Tiger defense.? Perry scored on runs of 6, 6, 1, 34 and 64 yards while going over the 700 yard mark for the year in rushing.? Chris Delavern caught a 24 yard TD pass from Kevin Stephenson to close out the first half scoring and Jack Mc Cann added a 3 yard TD run to close out the Tiger scoring.? Zane Meeder converted on all 7 PAT attempts, giving him 18 out of 20 conversions this year. Kyle Wilson played a solid game for the Panthers with 100 yards rushing on 14 attempts and 22 tackles.? The Tigers will host the Iroquois Braves (5 - 1 overall, 5 - 0 in region 2) this week. Gametime is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Fairview's Keck Field.
 
Week 7

TIGERS REGION 2 CHAMPS

 

The Fairview Tigers used a ball control offense and made the defensive plays when it mattered Friday night to break open a close game and claim the region 2 championship with a 28 - 7 win over the Iroquois Braves.  Tied at seven at the half, the Tigers started the third quarter on defense and quickly took control of the game.  Tyler Sargent intercepted a Steve Barringer pass near midfield, and Ty Perry scored less than 2 minutes later from 6 yards out to give the Tigers a 14 - 7 lead.  Alex Wagner blocked a punt later in the quarter to set up a 9 yard TD catch for Chris Delavern, his 7th TD catch of the season.  Ty Perry scored his third TD of the game after a Zane Meeder interception in the final period, as the Tigers improved to 7 - 0 overall and 6 - 0 in the Region.  A Mike Baer sack and fumble recovery allowed the Tigers to run out the clock and seal the win before a Senior Night crowd of almost 2,500.  Perry finished with 251 yards on 40 carries, giving him 1005 yards for the season.  The Tiger defense limited the Braves usually potent offense to just 119 yards and four first downs, 56 of those yards coming on a TD run for Jarryd Pearson late in the second quarter.  The Tigers will close out their region 2 schedule next week at home against Youngsville. 

Week 8

 

TIGERS GROUND EAGLES, 42 - 0 !!!

 

The Fairview Tigers scored on their first five possessions Friday night and coasted to a 42 - 0

victory over the Youngsville Eagles to improve to 8 - 0 on the season.  Ty Perry scored from 15

yards out to score the first Tiger touchdown.  After a fumble rercovery by Pat Michaels, the Tigers

marched 67 yards in ten plays with Perry scoring again, this time from 1 yard out.   On the following

possession for the Eagles, Pat Michaels caused another fumble, scooped it up and bolted 12 yards into

the endzone for a 21 - 0 first quarter lead.  Another Eagle fumble on the ensuing kickoff was

recovered by Jack Mc Cann, and Mc Cann scored 2 plays later from 10 yards out.  Tyler Sargent

capped off the first half scoring with an electrifying 83 yard run for a 35 - 0 halftime lead.

 

Matt Sundberg's interception on the first play of the second half led to the final score of the game, a

13 yard run by Perry, who finished with 121 yards on 15 carries. Pat Michaels had 14 tackles to go with his 2 fumble recoveries and Alex Wagner added 11 tackles as the Tigers defense recorded their second shutout

of the season.  The Tigers close out the regular season with a chance to go undefeated for the first time in nearly three decades, when they host arch rival Girard in a non region game at Fairview's Keck Field.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

 

Week 9

 

TIGERS DOWN JACKETS TO FINISH REGULAR SEASON 9 - 0 !!!
 
The Fairview Tigers got four touchdowns from Ty Perry, great play from their special teams and forced  three turnovers to defeat arch rival Girard 28 - 0 before almost 3,000 fans at Fairview's Keck field Friday night.
the Tigers scored in each quarter and needed only five plays to score their two first half touchdowns.  Kevin Stephenson's fumble recovery stopped a Girard drive in the first quarter, and Perry bolted 21 yards on the third play of the drive for a 7 - 0 lead.  After a Girard punt, Fairview scored in just two plays, the first being a 75 yard pass and catch from Kevin Stephenson to Tyler Sargent.  Perry finished off the drive from 4 yards out for a
14 - 0 halftime lead.  Zane Meeder's third quarter interception stopped another Yellow jacket drive, and Fairview scored six plays later with Perry going in from three yards out. Perry, who went over the 3,000 yard mark in career rushing, finished the scoring with a 21 yard run to finish with 205 yards rushing in 22 carries.
Alex Wagner took over the team lead in tackles with 20 tackles and Kevin Stephenson had five tackles to go along with a fumble recovery and an interception.  Stephenson has a team high five interceptions for the year.
The Tigers have a week off because of a first round bye, but will play the winner of the Sharpsville - Cambridge Springs contest to be held this Saturday.  The undefeated season for Fairview marks the first in 21 years for the Tigers, and the first since the PIAA state wide football playoffs began.  Legendary coach Jack Bestwick guided the Tigers to a 10 - 0 record in that 1984 season.  The Tigers were quarterbacked that year by Dave Hudson, who is currently the coach of the Fairview Middle School team, which finished a perfect 8 - 0 this year.

 

 

Week 12

BLUE DEVILS END FAIRVIEW'S SEASON, 38 - 26

 
 
The Sharpsville Blue Devils used four big TD scores of 45 yards or more to end Fairview's
season Friday night 38 - 26, in a Class A district 10 semi final game played at McDowell's Gus Anderson field.  The Blue Devils raced to a 17 - 0  lead early in the second quarter and appeared headed for more points when they went opted to not kick a field goal and where turned away at the goal line.  The Tigers responded by travelling 87 yards and scoring on a 23 yard run by Tyler Sargent.  The point after attempt was not good, but Fairview scored again with 23 seconds left in the half after the Blue Devils fumbled a punt and pat Michael recovered at the 10 yard line.  Two plays later Ty Perry scored from 7 yards out and cut the score to 17 - 12 at the half after a failed two point conversion attempt.  After forcing a Blue devil punt to start the second half, Fairview took its first lead with Ty Perry scoring from a yard out.  kevin Stephenson ran in the two point conversion to give the Tigers a 20 - 17 lead.  On the next possession, the Devils converted a 3rd and 15 with a 60 yard screen pass to retake the lead 24 - 20.  The ensuing kickoff was squibbed off a Fairview player at midfield and Sharpsville recovered.  Two plays later the Devils scored on a 50 yard run to make the score 31 - 20.  Zane Meeder closed out the Fairview scoring with a spectacular catch in the back of the endzone from 23 yards out on the first play of the 4th quarter to cut the lead to 31 - 26.  Again facing a 3rd and long on their next possession, the Devils executed a center screen to perfection, going 68 yards to finish of the scoring.  Ty Perry led all rushers with 105 yard in 18 carries and 2 TD's.  Perry's season totals were 221 carries for 1,436 yards and 26 touchdowns.  Pat Michaels had 10 tackles to go along with his fumble recovery to finish the year as the Tiger's leading tackler with 94 tackles.  Kevin Stephenson went over the 1,000 tard mark in passing for the year with 178 yards going 8 for 19 with a touchdown pass.  Despite the loss, the Tiger seniors enjoyed a 16 - 4 mark the last two years and two region 2 titles.  this for a group that watched the varsity go winless in 9 games during their freshman season.  And, with undefeated 8th grade and junior varsity teams ready to move up, the Tigers should remain contenders in the years ahead !
