Note: Pennsylvania Football News and committee make our annual selections in large part based  upon head coaches' nominations, scouting services input, contributor input, media input, and our own personal observations. We have relied upon the MaxPreps stats as a guide and we also use our own Keystone Club. (It helps if coaches complete the total information on the roster such as height, weight, position, grad year- and TYPE it so we can read the names correctly.) We do want to reiterate, it is hard to include a player whose own coach doesn't take the time to nominate him.

We have spent hours and hours compiling the players and stats sent to us from coaches. This year we have had over 1200 nominations and , as a result, have added a 4th team. Selecting the top players is always a difficult task and includes both objective and subjective input. We consider schedule, recruiters' judgment, and head coaches' evaluations. Many players could have been considered on either offense or defense. We tried to choose where they made the bigger impact. Sometimes we may not spell a name correctly. Most of that is probably our input error, and we offer apologies. We will correct those errors when they are pointed out.

PFN continues to honor our athletes. We encourage all head football coaches to use MaxPreps. If you don't promote PA high school football, who will? We encourage all players selected to include this honor in their college media guide information. 

We mistakenly had this year's HM pushed into previous year's nominees. We have made every effort to get that straightened out in this posting of the Honorable Mention.

Brendan Nosovitch, Allentown Central Catholic
 

To state that Allentown Central Catholic's Brendan Nosovitch had an amazing year would be a gross understatement. Just ask any of this year's opponents. If you set up to stop the pass, the elusive, tough junior QB would burn you on the ground. If you played the run, he'd pick your secondary apart with his uncany ability to find an open receiver. Nosovitch accumulated 4,759 yards of total offense (3,112 passing, 1,647 rushing) . He also was a scoring machine with 68 total TDS -  43 passing, 25 rushing. With Nosovitch under center, the ACC teams has  an unheard-of 28-2 record. Coach Harold Fairclough's field general has led ACC to back-to-back District 11 AAA championships with another year left! The talented athlete has thrown for 5,440 career yards and rushed for 2,810 more. After leading his team up the field late in trhe 4th, his 18-yard sprint up the middle with 2:09 remaining in the game tied the game  and the extra point by Tim DiGiacomo set the final at 28-27.
