Please Note that the Steering Committee merely makes proposals. Changes are not effected until the Board of Directors pass them.

Results of 2001-2002 PIAA Wrestling Championships Coaches' Survey	Only 33% were returned. Dom Villani suggested future surveys be sent to ADs who will make sure they are filled out and returned

Proposal for 32-man bracket from Districts to Championships	Terry Diehl moved to NOT accept this proposal and to keep Regionals; Bill Wilt seconded. Motion carried

Can Communicable Skin Disease Form be FAXed? Who can sign these Forms?	Yes.. FAX is acceptable. Only MDs or D.O.s may sign the Communicable Disease Forms

Proposal for Schools to be reimbursed for TEAM Championships	This item will be discussed at Board of Directors' meeting

Coaches' Dress Code	It was the opinion of the Committee the PIAA needs to come out with a stinger stance on Coaches' atttire. It will be printed in the programs and emphasized to principals. Coaches should NOT wear shorts, jeans, tees.. but rather should dress in a professional manner. This was also endorsed by the PWCA

215-pound Weight Class	The Committee voted to include 215 in the next cycle 2002-2003 season. All other weights will remain as is.

Mr. Diehl presented a modified proposal for AA Brackets	The PIAA will study and effect any changes they see as an improvement

Continue with 2-pound growth allowance	Passed with discussion that use as growth allowance, not as excuse to drop weight. Proposal for an additional pound in February failed.

Proposal by Gus Picardo to eliminate TEAM award for Individual Championships	Since a TEAM trophy is awarded at the TEAM Championships, it was felt redundant to do same for the individual Championships. This passed 7-6.

215 pound weight class for Junior High	This passed and will be in effect with the 2002-2003 season.

Selection of Officials for Championships	Discussion will continue.. it is necessary to continue some rotation of officials to avoid the same ones there every year. However, it will be considered that those working TEAM Championships will be given consideration to work Regionals

Junior High Length of Matches to 1 1/2-1 1/2- 1 1/2; overtime to be 1 minute with 30 second tiebreaker	This proposal passed and would go in effect 2002-2003

Blind Draw for Wrestling Championship Pairings	While the committee saw merit, it was believed that posting the pairings in advance would be the better format. This would preclude any opinion that the brackets were tainted in any manner to show bias.
