6th Annual Middle Atlantic Folkstyle Wrestling Championships for Women

Eligibility: All participants must have a current USA Wrestling membership. Memberships can be purchased through your state organization. They will also be available at weigh-ins. Cost of a membership is $30. This money supports wrestling nationally….as well as girls’ wrestling!
3 Divisions: Elementary: Girls in 5th grade or below.
Middle School: Girls in 6th-8th grades.
Sr. High: 9th- 12th grades (Membership on a boys’ team is not necessary!)
Weight Classes: Elementary & Middle School Divisions: Madison Weights
Sr. High Division: 100, 107, 114, 122, 130, 139, 149, 160, 235
Weigh Ins: Friday, March 4, 2005. 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 5, 2005. 7:00-9:00 a.m.
Wrestling Starts: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005.
Rules: All National Federation folkstyle rules will be used, with the exception of hair
length. Hair must be pulled back (pony tail, braid, etc.) or hair netting used.
Length of Matches: Elementary Division: 1-1-1, OT 1, :30 Tie-breaker
Middle School Division: 1.5-1.5-1.5, OT 1, :30 Tie-breaker
Sr. High:
Championship Bracket 2-2-2, OT 1, :30 Tie-breaker
Consolation Bracket 1-2-2, OT 1, :30 Tie breaker
Uniforms: Singlets are required for all participants. T-shirts may be worn under a
boys’ singlet, however, girls’ singlets are recommended. Headgear are required for senior high division competitors. (Check with your school to see if they will loan equipment.)
Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top 4 finishers in each weight class.
Trophies will be awarded in the High School division to the “Outstanding Wrestler” and to the wrestler recording the “Most Falls in the Least Amount of Time”(Championship bracket only).
*Notice: The tournament will be double elimination format. Weight classes with fewer
than 4 wrestlers will be “round robin” format. In an effort to give everyone the
opportunity to participate, tournament organizers reserve the right to combine
weight classes in the event of any weight class having only one competitor.
Entry Fee: $12 if received postmarked by February 26, 2005.
$15 at weigh ins.
