AAA SEMIFINAL NOTEBOOK

 

STILL UNBEATEN – Of the 28 finalist, just 25 percent enter tonight with perfect records. Clearfield and Council Rock North each have two unbeatens. Biosn 103-pounder Matt Kyler enters the championship bout with a 37-0 mark while teammate and defending state champ, Brad Pataky comes in with a 31-0 record. CRS has Rick Rappo at 42-0 and he’s looking for title No. 2 after moving up from 103 to 112 and at 160 Austin Carter is 41-0. Upper Merion’s Clint Collins remained perfect with a 5-4 OT win over Spring-Ford’s Mike Moley. It was the second-straight match Collins was pushed to overtime. … Honesdale’s Josh Arnone will be making his second-straight finals appearance with a 3-1 win which upped his mark to 38-0 and at 215 pounds, Justin Terhune of Dallastown moved to 36-0. There are no mathcups of unbeatens in the finals.

UNHOLY MOLEYS – It was a bad morning for the Spring-Ford Moley family. In addition to Mike’s loss at 140 was the second set back of the semis. Earlier Matt lost 5-2 to Council Rock’s Mike Rappo at 119 pounds.

GOT IT DONE – Pennridge’s Dan Goetter scored the semifinals’ lone fall. It came in

58 seconds and moved him into the final where he’ll face Terhune.

NUMBERS GAME – District 1 has 8 finalists followed by Districts 7 and 11 with seven each. Districts 3 and 9 each have two. Rounding out the Parade of Champiosn are one each from Districts 2 and 10.  District 4, 6, 8 and 12 were shutout. District 5 has no AAA schools.
